With only a single post so far (it looks like), it's hard to tell how this forum will operate, so let me start a new thread.
I've heard that this was intended as a successor to another late lamented forum, so where are you a refugee from?
I'm on several, but the one I miss is FreemasonPride.com
This is actually the first networking site I have come across.
I am a 23 year old father of two who has just begun the Masonic journey. : )
However, since my initiation in Jan. I have yet to return for a meeting, however have kept my dues current and remained in communication with the WM. I am currently preparing to go back the second week of June to receive my next two degrees. However, the workbook they had given me for the EA degree, has fallen into some disrepair... I fear the condition of it will stand as a testament to my opinion towards the craft, which is in no way true.
So my two options are.. to ask for a new book, or to present them with the dilapidated book, with fingers crossed for an understanding reception.
Well, it depends. If by dilapidated condition, you mean dog-eared, covered with marginal notes, and maybe a coffee-cup ring from reading it late into the night, it says something very different from if it's covered with egg-shells and coffee ground from all the times you've had to fetch it out of the trash. :-)
What I will tell you is that if your Lodge's examination committee did their job, then they thought you were worth the trouble to work with; and by balloting to accept you, the rest of the Lodge concurred with that assessment. They'll realize that a young man with a family doesn't have as much time to devote to the Lodge as the old retired coots who get the perfect attendance pins. And they'll be glad to see you as often as you can make it, so don't ever let "it's been so long since I was out" be an excuse for not going to Lodge when you do have a chance.
Well, I had completed the workbook the day after fact. So I had left the book in the pouch on the back of my driver's seat to keep little hands from coloring, and otherwise vandalizing my book.
Much to my dismay, my car was vandalized (I have a convertible), and someone had slit the roof open. Rain ensued, and now I am left with a water damaged EA workbook. I sent an e-mail to my WM last night, I will be attending an EA degree tomorrow, and requested a new book explaining what had happened.
On a sidenote, I am very excited to be attending the degree as a spectator , as opposed to the spectacle. I have heard it is much easier to absorb the lessons from the light as opposed to the dark. Also looking to run over the material that will be expected from me on FC night, next Wed.
Also a little nervous, since I haven't been back since Jan. which was my first experience in a lodge , and I know there are certain etiquettes to follow, (sit, stand approach , dont walk here and so on) but I plan to go a little early for a crash course.
Haven't heard back from him.. but I assume all will be well.
